Rev. BurningMan Jumps Into Another Fire…

November 30, 2004

Just saw the news that Randy Bohlender is going to a strategic post in a strategic place…Washington, DC. Sounds like a good move for him and his family. If you’ve got a couple of extra prayers you can send ‘em up for Randy, Kelsey, and the cool boys, and for their new work and new home. And he thought it was “interesting” in the desert…wait ’til he gets a load of the Beltway…!

BTW, I’ve been meaning to post this picture of Mutt and Jeff…I mean, the aforementioned Mr. Bohlender and Revdude!

Where’s Emily Post When You Need Her?

November 26, 2004

If this is how Thanksgiving dinner goes, something tells me it’s probably not a Martha Stewart moment at ordinary meal times.

A man was charged with stabbing two relatives after they allegedly criticized his table manners during Thanksgiving dinner.

Police said the fight broke out Thursday when Gonzalo Ocasio, 49, and his 18-year-old son, Gonzalo Jr., reprimanded Frank Palacious for picking at the turkey with his fingers, instead of slicing off pieces with a knife.

And since it happened in polite-society Worcester, Massachusetts, I’ll forego the customary “Hey! Hold muh beer and watch this!” alert!

Another Redneck Surfaces in the Blogosphere…

November 22, 2004

It’s like they’re coming out of the woodwork or something!

Another of my “redneck pastor” buds is blogging! Tony McCollum is one of the most creative thinkers I know. He’s a Renaissance man…with many talents, skills, and gifts! Not only that, but he has the quickest wit and he makes me laugh ’til my side hurts and my eyes water like crazy! He’s also a pastor in a movie theater, and he has a heart for people. He always encourages me whenever I get to be around him. Check out Tony’s blog! Thanks, TMc, for all you do!

What If…?

November 22, 2004

Sometimes you just can’t beat a good country song to put things in perspective…

I went sky diving
I went Rocky Mountain climbing
I went 2.7 seconds on a bull named FuManchu
And I loved deeper and I spoke sweeter
And I gave forgiveness I’d been denying
And he said someday I hope you get the chance
To live like you were dying.

Like tomorrow was a gift and you got eternity to think about
What’d you do with it what did you do with it
What did I do with it
What would I do with it?
