OK, here’s the deal…I’m in the mood for a little reading. Some theological reading. Some books that will challenge and stretch me right now. Some books that take more than a couple of days to digest. Some books that are classics in the field. Some books that “every pastor ought to have read.” You get the idea.
What are your recommendations?

The Bible.

A few that have challenged me:
The Pursuit of Holiness by Jerry Bridges
The Master Plan of Evangelism by Robert E. Coleman
Mere Christianity by C.S. Lewis
My Utmost For His Highest by Oswald Chambers
Experiencing God by Henry Blackaby
Not so hard to chew on, but every pastor should read:
Visioneering by Andy Stanley
Seizing Your Divine Moment by Erwin McManus
The Purpose Driven Church by Rick Warren
I know…they’re already on your bookshelf…
How about:
Understanding Doctrine by Alister E. McGrath
The Gate of Glory by George Carey
Redeemed! (Eschatalogical Redemption and the Kingdom of God) by Boyd Hunt
Plenty to chew on there…
Or for fun, maybe something by E.M. Bounds or N.T. Wright?
